And is the debut album of Í Myrkri, and the first attempt of Simon Gardarsson's musical efforts.

“Black Fortress of Solitude” dwells into the mystical atmosphere of nature and the occult happenings of the darkened woods.
Incantations, solitude of the forest, and rare phenomenon like the blood moon is what drive this album’s lyrical universe.
With an overall lo-fi sound production, “Black Fortress of Solitude” aims to keep it old-school with its classic inspired riffs and its atmospheric touch on those.

The cover painting (Udslidt by H A Brendekilde, if anyone is interested) and the music is in perfect alignment. So much sorrow, so much despair... Right from the start I can feel my soul wither away with each riff. Still, towards the end of the record I can catch little glimpses of hope in the melodies.
